Paris Hilton is a self-made millionaire through such ventures as a Billboard chart topping singer as well as the owner of her own record label, the star of her own highly rated television program, "The Simple Life" which has had high ratings for several years, a New York Times best selling author twice, and the entrepreneur behind clothing and perfume lines which are financially successful. One might deem a young woman at such a young age to be a workaholic. She is an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, as well as to the real estate fortune of her father Richard Hilton. She provides inspiration, beauty, and excitement to people all over the U.S. and the world.
As most of America now knows, Ms. Hilton was convicted on May 4, 2007 in a Los Angeles court with violation of her probation as well as driving on a suspended license and sentenced to 45 days in Century Regional Detention Facility in California beginning on or before June 5, 2007.
We, the American public who support Paris, are dismayed by how Paris has been the person to be most severely punished as the poster person that drunk driving is wrong. We do not support drunk driving or DUI charges. Paris should have been sober yet; Paris Hilton did not hurt anyone except herself. But how can she remain at the level of her current productivity in jail?
As depicted on Friday night's episode "Nancy Grace" on Headline News (May 4, 2007), countless celebrities have been "slapped on the wrist" for similar incidents recently. Nick Nolte, Mel Gibson, Tracy Morgan, Wynonna Judd, to name a few, were arrested and never did a day in jail after their initial arrests for drunk driving /DUI /DWI charges. Rappers Busta Rhymes and Eve still walk free after both being arrested for the same charges as Ms. Hilton just this past week.
This petition is to request that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger commute Miss Hilton's sentence for her mistake. Please allow her to her return to her career and life. Everyone makes mistakes. And most importantly, she has learned her lesson. She is sincere, apologetic, and full of regret for her actions as she explained tearfully to the Judge handling her case in court yesterday. She is distraught and afraid.
We need your support to save Paris from ending up at the Century Regional Detention Facility. Please sign to tell The Honorable Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of the State of California, to think about the welfare of this young woman who has made a serious error and deserves a second chance like so many others in our great nation have been given after a mistake they have made. If the late Former President Gerald Ford could find it in his heart to pardon the late Former President Richard Nixon after his mistake(s). Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger we request of you that Miss Hilton's sentence be commuted. She is more than willing to pay the consequences for her error in judgment in other more proactive, constructive ways to the community. We fully support Paris Hilton and we have deep faith in you, Mr. Governor that you will understand and grant this important request in good faith to Ms. Paris Whitney Hilton by giving her the opportunity to prove your decision right. Thank you Governor Schwarzenegger for your time and consideration. It is most appreciated by Miss Hilton, her family, her friends, her co-workers, her employees and all of her fans. Everyone who reads this please sign this petition. You may contact the State Capitol Building, Sacremento, CA 95814 and/or phone (916) 445-2841 or fax (916) 445-2841. All that is required of you is to send your name and e-mail address along with this. petition.
