It's been there for you ... through pick-up lines, spilled red wine, operas and weddings. It has never complained after being tossed aside in the heat of passion. It has kept all your secrets. Yes, your "little black dress" has been a true friend. Or perhaps it's that maternity dress with the polka dots that seemed to sum up your feelings about weighing 30 extra pounds. Or that shirt you wore for your first try at the Boston Marathon. All evoke emotion and memories.
Remanents, the creator of high quality and high style note and greeting cards, invites women to share their memories and have garments immortalized as part of the company's "Style Diaries" Greeting Card line.
"We were inspired by one woman's story of the death of so many bridesmaid dresses," explains Monica Anderson, Remanents' designer and illustrator. "She and I speculated about the stories the dresses could tell. We all have favorite fashion pieces that can bring back a moment or a memory of our life."
From this, the "Style Diaries" Greeting Cards were born. The collection includes limited edition greeting cards that tell an original story. Actual fabric pieces from donated garments are paired with original illustrations by Anderson and combined with high quality die cut papers. The fabric swatches are inserted into the card for a stunning, multi-dimensional look. A diary entry on the back reveals where the piece had been and what it meant to its owner. Each card is numbered and Remanents donates 20% of the online sales to the Global Fund for Women.
"A small tear slid down my cheek as I parted with this gorgeous black dress ..." begins Adrianne's entry on the first card for the Style Diaries line. Her favorite little black dress lives on forever as a birthday wish and also supports other women through the Global Fund for Women.
All women are encouraged to submit their stories for consideration in a Style Diaries card. Those that are selected receive the first 10 cards from the limited edition printing free to share with friends and family. To submit for consideration, garment, story, and Style Diaries submission form to need to be sent to: Remanents -- Style Diaries Submission, PO Box 156, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
