Have you had problems paying your bills on time lately?

The fact of the matter is that you are not alone. More than 30 Million people in the U.S. have the same problems as you. Poor credit can be the primary cause for a severe inability to obtain credit cards and/or loans.

There is a solution to this problem and it is right at your finger tips.

Here are 7 ways you can fix and improve your credit score and obtain credit cards and/or loans at favorable rates.

1. Reduce your balance to limit ratio.

When a company is reviewing your credit, most of them will look at the amount of balances on your current accounts and compare that figure to the amount of total outstanding credit you have available.

EX. Total Balances = $10,000 and Total Avail. Credit = $20,000.

Now in this example your ratio would be at 50% which in most cases would be frowned upon by lenders. The ideal ration would be anything less than 30%

A good idea would be to pay off those low balance credit cards to get your balance to limit ratio under 30%

2. Cut back your credit card usage.

Even if you are the type of person who typically pays off your credit cards every month, it is a good idea to keep your balances below 30% of the available credit limit.

Even though you are paying off your credit cards monthly your balance is still reported to the credit bureaus.

One of the best ways to keep track is by using financial software like Quicken or Microsoft Money. Using these programs can help you stay below 30% of your available credit limits.

3. Know your limits.

In some cases, your credit card companies may not report your limits to the credit bureaus. This may cause a drop in your FICO score.

What happens is the credit bureaus will use your highest balance as an estimation of your credit limit. So if you spend between $3000 and $3500 on your card monthly then on the credit bureaus you will look like you are using more of your available credit limit than you really are.

In most cases, you can call your credit card companies and have them report your limits to the credit bureaus.

4. Use your older cards.

One of the most important factors in determining your FICO score is the length of time a card has been open. The older the account the better it will make your credit score look.

It is a good idea to use your older cards every few months just to make sure that the credit card companies continue to update your information with the credit bureaus.

5. Help from credit card company.

If for the most part, you have been a good customer, you can call your credit card company and ask them to remove 1 or 2 late payments from your history. Most of the time, this request has to be made in writing but it is definitely worth a shot. Your chances of success using this method increase the better your record with your lender.

If you have had more than just 1 or 2 late payments, then another option would be to request that your lender "re-age" your account. Typically, this is where you and your lender work out an agreement that if you make 12 or more consecutive payments on time, they will delete any previous late payments.

6. Disputing your old negative items.

So you had a disagreement with a company over a bill a few years ago, and it is still hurting your credit today. Disputing that bill as "not mine" is an option you could use to fix or improve your credit score. A lot of times, if the item is relatively small and old, the credit card companies won't bother to respond to the credit bureaus investigation. Most of the time, this will cause the item to be removed from your credit history.

I have seen success disputing negative items when a lender has merged with another company. The merger causes older debts to get "lost in the shuffle."

7. Concentrate on the important stuff.

There are certain aspects of your credit report that really affect your score. It is important to know what they are and to really focus your attention on these items to repair and improve your credit score.

Here is a short list of the item I suggest you focus on:

1. Negative items that are not yours (e.g. Late payments, charge-off, or collections)

2. Incorrectly reported credit limits

3. Anything not listed as "Current" or "Paid as Agreed". (e.g. Settled, paid derogatory, or paid charge-off)

4. Accounts that shouldn't be there due to a bankruptcy.

5. Derogatory items that are older than 7 years that should have dropped off. It would be 10 years if you have a bankruptcy.

You want to be careful with this one because as we discussed earlier. Having aged accounts actually improves your credit score, even if they are negative accounts. It is not possible to know the effect of closing an old negative account. You are kind of "rolling the dice" when you do it.

As you can see, these 7 ways will get you on your way to raising your credit score and lowering your interest rates.

Good credit is obtainable if you just hunker down and put your mind to it. Following the tips above will help you get out of the credit "dog house".

... It's strange, isn't it, how some people end up marrying someone who looks just like them. I know, that seems to come completely out of the blue, but there is a method to my madness.

You see, most mornings I stop by a coffee shop on my way to work. Sometimes to get a toasted sandwich for breakfast, sometimes just to get a drink, and occasionally just to pay the bill for the library's catering account. And every morning when I arrive there's always this couple sitting in the corner. Every morning without fail. Her with her coffee milkshake and him with his cappuchino.

The thing that always gets me about this couple though is the similarities. They both look so much alike! Honestly, you'd swear they were brother and sister ... at least you would until they started making out.

And this is a bit of a trend I've noticed in our society. You can see it in any Sunday paper on the weddings page. The number of people marrying partners that could be related to them is astonishing! Zeus knows, even my cousin married a girl who looked so much like him I almost did a double take the first time I met her.

I wonder why that is? I mean, you'd think the whole don't-marry-your-brother-or-your-kids-will-have-two-heads taboo would stop those sort of shenanigans, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I wonder if they even realise they're doing it!

Of course, I remember reading an article once in a magazine that said we're instinctually attracted to people who have similar features to ourselves. Something about a subconscious desire to preserve genetic integrity. Of course, they were talking about things like the ratio of eyebrows to eyelids and the width of nostrils. Not the freaky similarities you see with some of these couples.

Hmm, it's interesting, isn't it. Perhaps I should write a paper about it, do a thesis or something. Of course, I'll have to be careful with my line of questioning. Somehow, I don't think "So, were you unaware you were marrying someone who looks like you're sister, or are you just into that sort of thing?" is going to go down so well...

Mention the “b” word, as in BUDGET, to a friend and they’ll look at you like you have a third eye growing from the middle of your forehead. For most people the word budget too often carries negative meanings such as limits, restrictions, living on an allowance, giving things up, no shopping, no fun.

Let’s take a look at paying off your credit card debt. You’ve decided to lower your debt by adding an extra $20 to your monthly payments. Great idea - as long as you can afford it and you stop using your credit cards. However, you won’t know if you have the extra $20 if you don’t know what your monthly expenses are from the start. With a budget you may find that you can actually afford more and pay off your debts faster. You’ll have the freedom to use your money more wisely and achieve your goal.

What about buying a new house or car? If you don’t have a budget, you won’t know how much you can pay for a house or a car payment. Make that mistake and you’ll get a visit from the repo man or you’ll find yourself in foreclosure. Your budget gives you the freedom to make an informed decision.

How about saving for retirement? Unfortunately most of us don’t consider retirement savings until we’re into our forties or even fifties. Imagine if only we’d been smarter, had a budget, and started contributing toward our retirement when we were 10, 20, or 30 years younger?

Having a budget doesn’t limit you. It gives you the freedom to make informed financial decisions, allows you to use your money more wisely, and achieve your financial goals more quickly and easily.

Heartbroken, the guy agreed. But when he regained his confidence, he worked hard day and night, slogging his body and mind just to make something out of himself. Finally with all the hardwork and the help of friends, this guy had set up his own company...

You never fail until you stop trying. One rainy day, while this guy was driving, he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella in the rain walking to some destination. Even with the umbrella, they were still drenched. It didn't take him long to realize they were his girl's parents.

With a heart in getting back at them, he drove slowly beside the couple, wanting them to spot him in his luxury sedan. He wanted them to know that he wasn't he same anymore; he had his own company, car, condo etc. He made it! What he saw next confused him, the couple was walking towards a cemetery, and so he got out of his car and followed... and he saw his girl, a photograph! of her smiling sweetly as ever at him from her tombstone and he saw his aper cranes right beside her...

Her parents saw him. He asked them why this had happened. They explained, she did not leave for France at all. She was ill with cancer. She had believed that he will make it someday, but she did not want to be his obstacle... therefore she had chosen to leave him. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. She had wanted her parents to put his cranes beside her, because, if the day comes when fate brings him to her again, he can take some of those back with him...

Once you have loved, you will always love. For what's in your mind may escape but what's in your heart will remain forever.

The guy just wept... The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside her knowing you can't have her, see her or be with her ever again... Hope you understand.

Find time to realize that there is one person who means so much to you, for you might wake up one morning losing that person who you thought meant nothing to you.

What color is the fluid under your car? Yellowish green, pretty blue or neon orange colors indicate an overheated engine or an antifreeze leak caused by a bad hose, water pump or leaking radiator. Not good. I remember the yellowish green ooze from my Chevette as the tow truck took it away to its final resting place. Get to a repair shop while you still can!

A dark brown or black oily fluid means the engine is leaking oil. A bad seal or gasket could cause the leak. This is how my first car met its demise.

A red oily looking spot indicates a transmission or power-steering fluid leak. Also, not good.

A puddle of clear water usually isn't a cause for concern. It may be normal condensation from your vehicle's air conditioner. Whew!

“Smell no Evil”

Take a whiff, and you may detect your vehicle's problem.

Do you smell burned toast? This odor often signals an electrical short and burning insulation. Have someone come look at your car. Don't drive it anywhere until the problem is diagnosed.

How about the smell of rotten eggs? This usually indicates a problem in the catalytic converter. Get to a repair shop! Pheee-yew!

A thick sharp odor usually means burning oil. Look for the sign of a leak. This problem needs to be addressed immediately if having transportation is important to you. You may also notice a bluish smoke coming from your vehicle. Ask me how I know. Ahh… memories.

The smell of gas after a failed start may mean the engine is flooded. Wait a few minutes and try again. If the odor continues, there may be a leak in the fuel system - a potentially dangerous problem that needs immediate attention.

A chemical odor may mean overheated brakes or clutch. Check the parking brake. Stop and let the brakes cool after repeated hard braking. Light smoke coming from a wheel indicates a stuck brake. Call a tow truck.

Do you notice a sweet odor? This may indicate a coolant leak. Watch your temperature gauge and warning light and drive to a repair shop. Now, if you see steam from under the hood, stop and pull over. If you keep driving an overheated vehicle, your engine will be seriously damaged. Call a tow truck.

The basic rule of smell is that if you do notice an unusual odor - get to a mechanic or get one to come to you. Pretty simple!

A little extra attention to what’s coming out of your car or truck could save you the cost of a new vehicle payment! Keep those eyes and that nose on the job!

Simply mix ½ to 1 teaspoon of sugar in with a small amount of your favorite skin cleanser. Wet your face and massage the cleanser/sugar mixture over your face for 1-2 minutes. Rinse your face with lukewarm water to remove this mixture and you will instantly feel a difference in your skin.

Nourish:

Give your skin a refreshing drink with a simple nourishing facial mask. The ingredients are powerful and can be found in your kitchen. Combine one or more main ingredient with a liquid ingredient for to make a wonderful facial mask. Base your ingredient choices on the health properties of each item.

Base Ingredient:

Honey – It is a humectant (which draws in moisture) and it has antibacterial qualities that also stimulates and smoothes the skin.

Mango - Provides natural fruit enzymes which also exfoliates the skin and the oil in mangos help moisturize.

Avocado - A naturally rich moisturizer has essential fats and oils.

Oatmeal – Moisturizing and slightly exfoliating

Liquid Ingredient:

Milk – Enzymes and Lactose acid to exfoliate and milk fat to condition the skin.

Aloe Vera Gel – Healing and softening.

Egg White – tightening and conditioning.

You will want to follow your treatments with your favorite hypoallergenic moisturizer. For best results, these treatments can be done 2-3 times a week to help keep your skin youthful and vibrant.
